Education Through Exploration
ASK Learning Center 925 Main Street Norwalk, Iowa 50211 515.981.1275 tanyaapana@msn.com
ASK Learning Center, a non-profit independent school, provides kindergarten through eighth grade children and their families with an alternative to the traditional school setting. Our innovative school is led by experienced, Iowa-certified teachers, who thoughtfully facilitate small, multiage classes. Each class has 10 or fewer students, thereby allowing more teacher-child contact.
ASK provides an environment in which children's strengths and unique ways of learning are supported. We teach children to be in charge of their learning - to be thinkers, challengers, and wonderers.
The mission of ASK is to provide a creative and meaningful learning environment that encourages all students to develop to their greatest potential.
ASK Learning Center does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, or ethnic origin.
ASK Learning Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation. All donations are tax deductible.

Our Curriculum
The teachers of ASK utilize a wide variety of curriculum resources. Concepts and knowledge are brought to life through active exploration and discovery. Thematic units compliment the integration of math, science, social studies, art, music, and literature. Instruction is child-centered, hands-on, and inquiry-based.
ASK teachers guide students in asking and answering questions, pursuing information, and solving problems. We firmly believe that children acquire skills best when they are developmentally ready to do so. We recognize and respect that some learners may acquire skills earlier than the “targeted” age, and some students take longer to master those skills.
Throughout the school year, the teachers also facilitate physical education, music appreciation, art, and multicultural awareness. Robotics, frequent field trips, and service learning enhance our students’ overall educational experience.
Utilizing a three-way conference, the parent(s), child, and teacher identify goals for the student, and artfully craft an individualized education plan. Periodically throughout the year, each child’s progress is assessed, and the curriculum is adjusted accordingly. Enrichment and accommodation occur naturally.
